Creativity Squared: On A.I. Digital Human Use Cases
“Technology is becoming a lot more human by design. Historically, technology was clunky. You needed to have an advanced degree in order to be able to interact with it, but now technology is starting to mimic some of the characteristics of what makes us human.”

Dear Creativity Squared Member,
Episode 53’s guest is Iliana Oris Valiente and she is not your average executive. She's a blockchain pioneer, an A.I. advocate, and a passionate voice for human potential. She’s also the youngest-ever managing director in the history of Accenture.
Not only is Iliana a certified Bitcoin professional, startup investor, respected board member, published author, and sought-after global public speaker, but she also has a digital twin named Laila.
Iliana and I first met at SXSW this past March and became fast friends, especially since we are both in the clone club and have A.I. avatars.
In our conversation, Iliana speaks about A.I. and its transformative impact on the future of work, creativity, and societal trends. She shares her vision of a human-centered future where A.I. augments rather than replaces human creativity, and how the democratization of powerful A.I. tools will raise the bar for innovation. Iliana discusses the concept of digital humans and the emergence of a multi-agent workforce, in which A.I. assistants like her own digital twin will interact and collaborate with their human counterparts, including as chiefs of staff.
She highlights the shift towards generalist knowledge workers and the amplified role of creative directors in an A.I.-powered world. Iliana also emphasizes the importance of responsible A.I. and the principles guiding its development at Accenture.
In today’s episode, get a glimpse into the future of A.I., computer vision, and the tremendous opportunities that await those who dare to navigate change head-on like Iliana.
I’m back from the BOLD UnConference in Austria and still marinating all that was discussed (and recovering from jet lag!). Stay tuned for takeaways from this amazing group of visionaries who gathered from around the world to discuss how we can BOLDLY shape the economy of the future.
I’m taking off the rest of the day to celebrate the summer solstice at Serpent Mound. Celestial events are great reminders of how we’re all interconnected on this blue dot among the vastness of the cosmos — and how important it is that we’re proactive in co-creating the future we want to live in, together.

OpenAI’s former chief scientist is starting a new AI company The Verge — Ilya Sutskever, co-founder of OpenAI, is starting Safe Superintelligence Inc. (SSI), a new A.I. company solely focused on creating a safe and powerful A.I. system. SSI prioritizes safety and capabilities together, aiming to avoid distractions from commercial pressures. Co-founded by Daniel Gross and Daniel Levy, SSI emphasizes safety over short-term gains, contrasting with OpenAI's partnerships with Apple and Microsoft. Sutskever recently quit OpenAI over disagreements regarding safety protocol at the ChatGPT developer.
Bipartisan group of senators target deepfake revenge porn with new legislation The Hill — A Senate bill introduced yesterday, the Take it Down Act, would require internet sites to remove videos and images of deepfake revenge porn within 48 hours of receiving a request. Existing State and Federal law offers victims recourse in civil court, but this bill would let victims demand content removal without spending time and money on a lawsuit.
Neo-Nazis Are All-In On AI WIRED — Neo-Nazis and other extremists are increasingly using A.I. to spread hate speech, recruit members, and create weapon blueprints, according to a report by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI). Hate groups are developing A.I. models infused with their ideology to produce propaganda, including videos and visual content. They’re also using A.I. to bypass content filters. Experts warn that extremists will become more proficient as A.I. advances, posing greater risks to online and real-world safety.
Runway unveils new hyper realistic AI video model Gen-3 Alpha, capable of 10-second-long clips VentureBeat — Runway ML introduces Gen-3 Alpha, a high-quality generative A.I. video model operating on a new kind of generative video infrastructure. It generates realistic 10-second clips with various emotions and camera movements, helping Runway reclaim its spot among the best video apps after falling behind OpenAI’s Sora and, more recently, Luma AI’s Dream Machine.
Snapchat AI turns prompts into new lens The Verge — Snapchat is introducing new A.I. models for augmented reality lenses, allowing creators to transform surroundings and faces based on text prompts. New tools in Lens Studio let users create custom augmented reality effects, such as face transformations and 3D asset generation. Snapchat has been steadily releasing AI features, including AI-generated snaps and a ChatGPT-powered chatbot.
How a Real Photo of a Flamingo Snuck Into—and Won—an A.I. Art Competition Smithsonian Magazine — Photographer Miles Astray took a real photo of a flamingo in Aruba, which was mistaken for A.I.-generated art due to the bird's headless appearance. He entered it into a competition, won awards, then revealed the truth. The contest disqualified his entry but appreciated his message about human creativity versus A.I. art. The photographer hopes to inspire others and collaborate on discussions about A.I.-generated images.
TikTok ads will now include AI avatars of creators and stock actors TechCrunch — New features in TikTok’s A.I. ads suite will let creators license their likenesses and give brands access to a diverse group of stock A.I.-generated models. The company also released a feature for dubbing videos in other languages, enabling creators to reach global audiences.
AIs are coming for social networks The Verge — On a new A.I.-powered social app, Butterflies, users create A.I. characters that interact through a platform resembling Instagram. Despite initial weirdness and limitations, the app offers a glimpse into a future where A.I.s are integrated into social media. Butterflies aims to offer a diverse array of A.I. characters. The app's creator believes interacting with A.I.s can coexist with human relationships, sparking questions about the impact on human connection.
