Creativity Squared: On ChatGPT's 1-Year Anniversary
āCreativity is the new productivity.ā
Dear Creativity Squared Member,
A.I. is a WILD rollercoaster ride!
This is the THIRTIETH Creativity Squared episode that coincides with and celebrates the one-year anniversary of OpenAIās announcement of ChatGPT. Todayās guest is John du Pre Gauntt, the founder and host of Culture & Code, a B2B podcast and newsletter focused on Generative Artificial Intelligence for Creative Professionals.
We recorded this conversation on the afternoon of Friday, November 17, discussing the explosive growth of OpenAI and GenAI this past year. Needless to say, we had no idea how much we needed to buckle up for the news that shook the tech world, unlike anything weāve seen since Appleās board fired Steve Jobs, which broke just a few hours after we wrapped the interview. Listen for a short synopsis of what happened and the mayhem that ensued!
In todayās show, youāll hear the original conversation I had with John. The episode serves as a time capsule marking where we are on the one-year anniversary of ChatGPT.
In other Creativity Squared news, Iām featured along with my clone in an article in the Cincinnati Magazine. Iāll share the digital version when itās online. Iām also excited to welcome Adam Kahn to the Cincinnati Clone Club! Interested in being cloned and putting your digital twin to work for you? Apply here!
Also, Iām really pumped to be attending the Content Authenticity Symposium next week at Stanford University for a full day of presentations and opportunities to discuss the implications of new A.I. technologies and with them, techniques to restore trust across our digital ecosystem. Stay tuned for a recap of my key takeaways from the event.
For anyone in the San Francisco area, join me on Friday, December 8 for a happy hour to geek out about all things creativity and artificial intelligence ā RSVP here!
If youāre looking for what A.I. events to attend next year, do add the Texas Eclipse Festival to your list! On April 8, 2024, there will be a total solar eclipse. The festival, taking place April 5-9 at Reveille Ranch in Burnet, TX (outside of Austin), will bring people together from all over the world to celebrate the 4 minutes of totality amidst music, immersive art, tech talks, wellness activations, and so much more.
I canāt wait to be on stage there to talk all things A.I., avatars, and synthetic media alongside so many talented people and artists, including Alex & Allyson Grey, Android Jones, and Chris Dyer.
Of course, Iāll be back in Austin for SXSW in March for its Interactive Conference which starts on March 8, and will be staying for their A.I. track which is March 11-15. Let me know if youāll be there ā would love to say hi IRL! If you missed the episode with Hugh Forrest, SXSW Co-President & Chief Programming Officer, check it out here!
